Billet fittings are fixed in place onto quality coolant hose with genuine Subaru water hose clamps, which you simply fit into the unused port at the back of the block at cylinder 4's location. This is then tee'd into the water matrix pipe directly above using the supplied fittings on the tee piece. The oil as we know lubricates, protects and coats all of the precious engine components ensuring they operate smoothly and at the correct temperature. With a poor quality oil, low oil level, or worse, no oil at all, the internal components of the engine would reach a temperature where they would no longer operate as intended and ultimately fail  (sometimes in a catastrophic manor). Other circumstances of failure relating to engine oil can be found when small particles of debris or swarf are allowed to flow freely through your engine. These particles of dirt, debris or swarf can prematurely wear out and damage numerous engine components which in turn will ultimately lead to engine failure. Contamination of the oil can come from general engine wear and tear, as well as an excess build-up of carbon deposits.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKeeping the above in mind we can move onto the oil filter, the single component solely responsible for ensuring that the engine oil is kept in a clean and useable condition. Although such a basic component its job is vital when maintaining reliability for mechanical components. Should the filter not do its job efficiently then ultimately your engine is at risk.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver the years there has been various manufacturers producing oil filters suitable for the Subaru Impreza, some have been very successful whilst others very poor but here at RCM we decided to take every ounce of knowledge we have gained over the last twenty two years and design a filter solely for use with high performance Subaru engines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur first job was to ascertain exactly what we needed from our new filter in order to cover the needs of today’s modern performance engines. Filtration was obviously on the top of the list, a sustainable high quality filter element would be needed capable of trapping dirt and debris but whilst not restricting oil flow any more than necessary. Our next consideration was oil pressure; if we could obtain slightly higher oil pressure this would almost certainly be a good advantage given Subaru’s “boxer” engine design and the need to circulate oil efficiently. Next was build quality, we needed a filter that would perform over and above our expectations with no compromising on the quality of materials.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith our goal set in our sights it was time to speak with our friends over at Tokyo Roki in Japan. With die stamping you can process a large amount of material at once which means that variations in the quality of each individual gasket is far less compared to laser cutting (in which each gasket section is cut separately to one another). With Die Cutting the finished edges are also far superior, leaving a much smoother, neater edge to the gasket as appose to laser cut steel which leaves a sharper edge behind.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eFor the ultimate seal all our gaskets are manufactured and designed to accept the larger 12mm and 14mm cylinder head studs also available from our online store. The standard cylinder head bolt (the component that joins the cylinder head to the block and offers force to seal your cylinder head gasket in place) is 11mm thick and uses a relatively fine thread. It is important to remember this bolt was developed for use on a mainstream engine producing no more than 320Bhp, Subaru did not manufacture this bolt for use with anything above this power and as such it is important to consider stronger and more suitable replacements. Here at RCM we manufacture both a 12mm and 14mm replacement head stud and nut kits. This coating is designed to act as a cushion in which to fill \/ take up any areas of imperfection found in either the cylinder head or block faces, to ensure you have the very best combustion chamber armour! Finally our cylinder head gaskets are all stamped from dies as appose to laser cut. With die stamping you can process a large amount of material at once which means that variations in the quality of each individual gasket is far less compared to laser cutting (in which each gasket section is cut separately to one another). With Die Cutting the finished edges are also far superior, leaving a much smoother, neater edge to the gasket as appose to laser cut steel which leaves a sharper edge behind. For the ultimate seal all our gaskets are manufactured and designed to accept the larger 12mm and 14mm cylinder head studs also available from our online store. The standard cylinder head bolt (the component that joins the cylinder head to the block and offers force to seal your cylinder head gasket in place) is 11mm thick and uses a relatively fine thread. It is important to remember this bolt was developed for use on a mainstream engine producing no more than 320Bhp, Subaru did not manufacture this bolt for use with anything above this power and as such it is important to consider stronger and more suitable replacements. Here at RCM we manufacture both a 12mm and 14mm replacement head stud and nut kits. The studs are naturally stronger due to their extra thickness and superior material quality but they also benefit from a much coarser rolled thread (meaning you can tighten them far more than the standard bolt which in turn will offer a much higher clamping load between both the cylinder head and block faces where you head gasket is situated.) Finally our cylinder head gaskets are all stamped from dies as appose to laser cut. With die stamping you can process a large amount of material at once which means that variations in the quality of each individual gasket is far less compared to laser cutting (in which each gasket section is cut separately to one another). With Die Cutting the finished edges are also far superior, leaving a much smoother, neater edge to the gasket as appose to laser cut steel which leaves a sharper edge behind.  For the ultimate seal all our gaskets are manufactured and designed to accept the larger 12mm and 14mm cylinder head studs also available from our online store. The standard cylinder head bolt (the component that joins the cylinder head to the block and offers force to seal your cylinder head gasket in place) is 11mm thick and uses a relatively fine thread. It is important to remember this bolt was developed for use on a mainstream engine producing no more than 320Bhp, Subaru did not manufacture this bolt for use with anything above this power and as such it is important to consider stronger and more suitable replacements. Here at RCM we manufacture both a 12mm and 14mm replacement head stud and nut kits. The studs are naturally stronger due to their extra thickness and superior material quality but they also benefit from a much coarser rolled thread (meaning you can tighten them far more than the standard bolt which in turn will offer a much higher clamping load between both the cylinder head and block faces where you head gasket is situated.) So why forged?  A forging is still the best way to manufacture a piston, not just from a production point of view but for the strength of the piston. There are certain areas where a piston machined from solid is marginally better than a forging but the strength benefits of a forging far outweigh any benefits of a fully machined piston. You get excellent grain structure when a piston is forged correctly, the way Omega do it. In a fully machined piston you don?t get any true grain flow structure as you are using the material as it is cut from the bar. When you forge the material you create optimal molecular alignment within the material coupled with their own in-house bespoke heat treatment and this is what gives the piston its strength.  After discussions with the technical people at Omega and other metallurgists we are convinced that the companies who are promoting fully machined pistons cannot offer forgings, it is much easier and cheaper to buy a machine with 3D capabilities than it is to buy and set up a forging plant, then there is the experience and skill required to create the perfect forging, it isn't easy, and certainly isn?t cheap but it provides the very best components available.  Omega?s attention to detail?  CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) machines are used to do most of the machining that turns a forging into a piston. When finished, the piston is sent to the quality control department to be measured. The quality control department is kept at a constant 20.5?C, important as pistons can expand by as much as 10 microns in sunlight. This way the pistons can also be measured for tolerance anywhere in the world, provided the same 20.5?C conditions are replicated.  The piston skirt is designed and machined to give a profile that works most efficiently when the engine is at full working temperature. Piston skirt profiles are not round but elliptical in shape and barrelled in length. The machining of the skirt is done on extremely accurate machines, capable of holding their repeatability down to 5 microns!  All RCM \/ Omega Pistons are individually weighed and batched to within 0.5 grams, which ensures that a set of four will have a tolerance deviation of no more than 2.0 grams. On large orders this means that it is not unusual to have a set of 4 pistons with only 0.1 gram deviation!  Proven Performance!  Both Gobstopper I and II have always used Omega pistons. With both cars developing over 700bhp (plus the additional option of nitrous oxide) and a rev limit of 10,000 rpm you don?t get a greater test for any piston.
